Russian lessons summer special offer
|
To put it briefly I offer you a 2 weeks course of Russian language living in my
dacha (summer house) in a Novgorod region village (central part of Russia)
next to a beautiful lake. You will be the only foreigner for hundred of miles around.
| – |
3 hours of Russian language lessons daily;
|
| – |
Possibility to practice Russian as much as you like in the rest of the
time with family members and neighbours;
|
| – |
Get acquainted with the real peasant Russia;
|
| – |
Tasty country food and a special occasion to eat true national food
from "Russian oven".
|
|
Why my dacha is a better place than any other to study Russian language
Take my word - my dacha proved to be the most efficient place ever known for
learning Russian language. Here are some reasons why:
| – |
The place is beautiful, quiet and isolated. There is nothing to do
there but study - no theaters, museums, cafes, shops or any other
temptation you can name. The concentration on the lessons comes
naturally as otherwise you have nothing to do. Lessons are both your
job and your entertainment. And it is very true for your teacher
as well.
|
| – |
Such time-consumers as trips to the school and back, buying food,
cooking meals, even taking care of your appearance & make up
simply do not exist there. You do not waste time having to pay a visit
to your teacher when you live in the same house with her. So you get
much more time for actual exercises than usual.
|
I offer you full room & board with a proper bed in my charming quaint wooden
house (Attn! on the first floor i.e. you will have to use
staircase often).
|
Why do I dare to compete with the prominent St. Petersburg University
My answer is simple - because I know how the courses are organized.
I do not deny the professionalism of the teachers but think about the following:
| – |
As the average salary at St. Petersburg university is about 170 USD
monthly your teacher will be most probably of retirement age. Age
usually means experience (that is good) but at the same time -
rigidness. One does not change the methods and materials used by him
for the last 30 years. The texts praising Lenin and communist party
are removed but the rest is more or less the same.
I concentrate on the vocabulary / topics which are in use today. The
thing is that language is like a wet sponge: it always soaks in and
contains the present-day reality. It is both unpractical and confusing
to study with a textbook composed - just imagine it - 35-40 years ago.
The grammar is the same - but everyday Russian life has changed
completely. My goal is not only to help you understand and express
yourself in Russian but also to learn more about local life, how the
society is organized, and how human values are perceived - to
understand why Russians behave like they do. Russian approach to love,
money, career success etc is quite different from the American or
English one.
|
| – |
Whom will you study together with? Not Russians but other foreigners.
So you will have no chance to practice your Russian with them. I can
introduce you to my friends - locals. You will have a better chance
to practice your Russian and to learn local life better and deeper.
|
| – |
Once you are in a group you will have to work on the level acceptable
for everybody. It will be not very interesting if others will be
stronger than you or rather tense if it will be you who is the weakest
in the group. With me you will work on your level, at a comfortable
tempo and you will get ALL my attention.
|
| – |
Unlike the course teacher I am open to "special requests". Do you
need to write a certain essay for your University? Or to prepare
a kind of self-presentation in Russian? Do you need to investigate a
certain topic about Russia or life here? We can do all of that
together and more.
