Tallinn - St. Petersburg

By train

Alas, the train correspondence between St. Petersburg and Tallinn does not exist any more! The only train was cancelled and there is not much hope that it will be restored. As the buses depart in both directions almost every hour trains were too empty to be profitable.

By bus

It is both easy and cheap to reach St. Petersburg from Tallinn by bus.
5 buses depart daily from the Tallinn bus station (situated in the city center) at 7:00, 11:00, 14:30, 23:00 and 23:40.
Journey time is about 7 hours 30 min.
Price - 14 Euro.
The buses arrive first to the square in front of Varshavsky railway station (Baltiskaya metro station is a 3 min walk from there) and then to the St. Petersburg central bus station on Obvodny channel (Ligovsky pr. metro station is a 20 min walk from there).

By ferry

In 2004 two companies - Estonian Tallink and Finnish Silja Line - offered ferry trips between Tallinn and St. Petersburg. Tallink announced at the end of the season that the demand was too low and they stopped their business. But Silja Line plans to continue its activity on this route.
Starting from the 29th of April 2005 Silja Line departs from Tallinn every fourth day at 19:00 arriving to St. Petersburg the next day at 8:00.
The prices which have been announced vary from 13 Euro for the berth in the inside cabin, 4 sq.m., below car deck shared by 4 persons up to 40 Euro in the seaside cabin shared by 4 persons for one way (high season). Check
