St. Petersburg - Tallinn

By train

Alas, the train correspondence between St. Petersburg and Tallinn does not exist any more! The only train was cancelled and there is not much hope that it will be restored. As the buses depart in both directions almost every hour trains were too empty to be profitable.

By bus

It is both easy and cheap to reach Tallinn from St. Petersburg by bus.
5 buses depart daily from the St. Petersburg central bus station at 7:00, 11:00, 14:30, 23:00 and 23:40.
Journey time is about 7 hours 30 min.
Price - 14 Euro.
The central bus station is situated on Obvodny channel, 36. The nearest metro station is Ligovsky pr. but it is not that close - 20 min on foot at least.

By ferry

In 2004 two companies - Estonian Tallink and Finnish Silja Line - offered ferry trips between St. Petersburg and Tallinn. Tallink announced at the end of the season that the demand was too low and they stopped their business. But Silja Line plans to continue its activity on this route.
Starting from the 30th of April 2005 Silja Line departs from St. Petersburg every fourth day at 20:00 arriving to Tallinn the next day at 10:30.
The prices which have been announced vary from 13 Euro for the berth in the inside cabin, 4 sq.m., below car deck shared by 4 persons up to 40 Euro in the seaside cabin shared by 4 persons for one way (high season). Check
