It is a pure architectural gem of St. Petersburg created in the XIX century. This
majestic place, exquisitely blending together the Renaissance and Baroque styles
was built for the Grand Duke Nicholas, the third son of the Emperor Nicholas I.
Construction lasted for 8 years to the designs of the famed German born Russian
architect Andrey Stakenshneider.
